Ligaments and bursae of the shoulder joint
Description: Shoulder pain can frequently be traced to pressure or inflammation in the ligaments and bursae around the glenohumeral joint. A basic internet search of these structures can be difficult for lay audiences to interpret, as many images cater to a higher medical literacy. This illustration is intended to help patients understand the orientation of the major ligaments and bursae in the glenohumeral joint, especially those relevant in common shoulder pain conditions.
